A racing pedigree, translated into the fastest gravel platform Giant has ever built
When Alan Hatherly (Jayco AlUla) took the elite men’s XCO world title and World Cup overall this season, it was more than a personal milestone — it was proof of a program. That same program now underpins Giant and Liv’s newest race-grade gravel platform: the Revolt Advanced SL, the Devote Advanced SL, and the all-new Cadex Max GXR wheel system.
Together, they weren’t designed as separate parts. Giant treated the bike, the fork, the cockpit, the wheels and the tyres as one “full-speed system” — developed, wind-tunnel tested and race-tuned as a single unit. The gains are measurable.
Giant Revolt Advanced SL — 288 g lighter, 18.99 W faster
The new Revolt Advanced SL frameset weighs 839 g (medium) — 51 g lighter than the previous generation, using Giant’s own high-modulus carbon fibre laid up in-house.
- Fork: 385 g (10 g lighter than before)
- Front-end stiffness: +35.2% with the new one-piece Contact SLR XR cockpit (295 g) and beefed-up OverDrive head tube
- Aero: –3.72 W of drag on the frameset alone; –18.99 W of total drag when measured across the full system on elite gravel terrain
The geometry is Giant’s most aggressive gravel geometry to date: lower stack (–29 mm on medium), longer reach (395 mm), steeper 74.5° seat angle to put the rider over the bottom bracket, 1033 mm wheelbase, 433 mm chainstays. Tyre clearance is 53 mm — deliberately paired to the Cadex Max GXR system.

Liv Devote Advanced SL — engineered for women riders, not just re-badged
The Devote Advanced SL runs the same racing brief on a chassis built specifically for female riders. To develop it, Liv created “Georgia” — a 3D-printed wind-tunnel mannequin modelled on Liv AlUla Jayco rider Georgia Baker. That means aerodynamic testing was done in a real female gravel-race position, not extrapolated from a male mannequin.
- Full bike weight (Devote Advanced SL 0): 4,223 g — 297 g lighter than the previous flagship, even on wider 45 mm race tyres
- Pedalling stiffness-to-weight: +25%
- Steering stiffness-to-weight: +38.5%
- Race geometry: lower stack, longer reach, steeper head angle, shorter trail — optimised for 45 mm race tyres, room for up to 53 mm

Cadex Max GXR wheels — the system’s third pillar
The wheels are what tie the platform together. Cadex Max GXR uses a 50 mm carbon rim, one-piece Cadex Super Aero carbon spokes and an integrated hub — all designed as one aerodynamic unit.
- Full wheelset weight: 1,320 g (with rim tape and valves)
- Aero: +4.61 W total system gain, –3.74 W drag, –0.87 W rotational drag vs Cadex AR 35
- Drive stiffness: +24.8% on the rear, +19.9% stiffness-to-weight vs AR 35
- 25 mm internal, hookless — takes bigger-volume gravel tyres at lower pressure
- Wide Guard: 5 mm reinforced sidewalls to resist pinch flats on rock
- Fast 60-tooth ratchet engagement
Paired GXR tyres: 700 × 45 c and 700 × 50 c, 170 TPI casing, bead-to-bead puncture protection, and –3.03 W less rolling resistance than the previous Cadex GX 40 mm.
