The right Giant or Liv frame size depends mostly on your height: as a rough guide, riders around 168 to 178 cm fit a medium, shorter riders a small and taller riders a large. Kids bikes go by wheel size instead. Use the charts below as a starting point, then let us check the fit at our Nairobi showroom, free, before you buy.
A bike that fits is safer, more comfortable and easier to control. A bike that is too big is hard to stop and steer. One that is too small cramps your back and knees. Size matters more than any part on the bike.
Step 1: measure your height and inside leg
- Height. Stand against a wall without shoes. Mark the top of your head and measure to the floor in centimetres.
- Inside leg. Stand with your back to the wall, feet a little apart. Pull a hardback book up between your legs, spine up, until it is snug. Measure from the top of the book to the floor.
- Note both numbers and send them to us on WhatsApp if you are buying from outside Nairobi.
Two people of the same height can have different leg and arm lengths. That is why the charts overlap, and why we check you on the bike.

Between two mountain bike sizes?
- Pick the smaller size if you want a bike that is easy to throw around on tight, technical trails such as the rocky sections of the Ngong Hills.
- Pick the larger size if you want more stability at speed and more room on long rides.
- Short legs for your height? Go smaller, so you can stand over the bike with room to spare.
Giant road and gravel bike size chart
Road and gravel bikes fit closer than mountain bikes, because you sit on them for longer in one position. Giant uses an M/L size between medium and large on many road bikes.

Between two road sizes?
Pick the smaller size for a sportier, lower position. Pick the larger size for a more upright, relaxed position on long rides. Stem length and saddle position fine-tune the rest.
Kids bike size chart by wheel size and age
Kids bikes are sized by wheel size. Height matters more than age, so measure your child first. The 20-inch and 24-inch ranges below come from our own kids bike listings.

Liv bikes: sizing for women
Liv is Giant’s women’s brand. Our Liv Tempt 29 4 listing describes a frame designed for women with a low standover height, which helps if you want more room over the top tube. How we fit you free at the showroom
Fitting takes a short visit and costs nothing. Bring the shoes you ride in. Here is what we do:
- Stand-over. You stand over the bike. There should be clear space between you and the top tube.
- Saddle height. We set it so your leg is almost straight at the bottom of the pedal stroke.
- Reach. We check how far you stretch to the bars, so your back and shoulders stay relaxed.
- Controls. We set the brake levers so you can reach them easily, which matters most for kids and smaller hands.

What size Giant mountain bike do I need?
As a rough guide: S for about 158 to 168 cm, M for about 168 to 178 cm, L for about 177 to 188 cm and XL from about 186 cm. We confirm the fit at our showroom for free.
I am between two sizes. Which should I choose?
Choose the smaller size for quick handling on tight trails, or the larger size for stability and long rides. Short legs for your height usually point to the smaller size.
What size bike does a 10-year-old need?
Most children of about 8 to 12 years ride a 24-inch bike. Our 24-inch kids listings suit children of about 130 to 145 cm. Measure your child’s height first.
Are Liv bikes sized differently from Giant bikes?
Liv is Giant’s women’s brand, and Liv bikes are designed for women. Use the same height charts as a starting point, then we check the fit on the bike.
